Bruno Curtis
Bruno Curtis, born in 1990, in Auckland, New Zealand is a DJ/Producer based in Berlin. Known for his ability behind the decks and a very specific rolling groove style of mixing, he’s slowly becoming a mainstay in the music capital of Europe, Berlin. Having taken his first steps into the world of music at the young age of 15 through his fathers collection, he himself had been a dj in the 70/80s era, Bruno has been constantly educating himself and surrounding himself with music for as long as he can remember.
At the age of 22 a move to one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, Lisbon would provide the stepping stone into the old continent's flourishing music scene, and would also mark the first contact with what would later be his main influences in terms of musical direction. It was in Lisbon mainly at the club LUX Fragil that almost religiously every friday he would attend the club nights where he got to listen to most of the music he would unto this day affiliate himself as a musician and got to meet a lot of the artists whose vinyls still populate his record bags for each gig.
Fast forward 8 years and living in the capital of the Czech republic, Bruno carved out what would later prove to be an essential part of not only his career but the country's history as well. There with his partner he started the project UP Festival, the first of his kind in the capital city, a festival that blended minimal arts, music, and visuals and brought for the first time to the country the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Sonja Moonear, Raresh, Audio Werner, Francesco Del Garda and other mainstays of the international music scene, as well as presenting the entire Cocoon label night with Sven Vath and friends. At the same time whilst splitting his time in between studio, gigs (with the first international steps taking place) he also formed a partnership with the media giants Boiler Room to bring the project for the first time in the history of the country to Prague.
Now after almost 10 years moving around Europe’s main cities, having played at Fabric London, Club Der Visionaere, Renate, Roxy Prague, and having toured extensively around the some of the focus cities in the underground scene he can be seen in Berlin, building up for his next step in the journey that started as a 15 year old, shared the stage with most of his childhood and main musical influences already, and earned his stars around the old guard what comes next? Only time will tell but for a young artists with so much in the bag already, can only go up from here.
